awcute wrote:Starry, one question. That column on "fair price" (column d) is that from montley fool? Thanks for the technicals too.
They are from Morningstar. But I realised that Morningstar and Motley Fool fair estimated fair value are pretty close to each other.....normally within a few dollars difference. The differences arise mainly because Morningstar updates their reports daily and they change the fair value based on the most recent earning reports.

These are all value selections....think energy stocks should fall under growth

I guess it depends on one's assumptions. For example, if I think oil prices will average above $100 and uranium will exceed $100 as well, a lot of energy companies would be very undervalued.

Actually giant energy companies like shell, etc, belong to the large value cap sector. IT sector belongs to growth.

Starry,
would you consider COF a value or a growth stock? Regardless, i find it a very unique and competitive company... your views please?

spin off western union. Read it here:
First Data Corporation Completes Western Union Spin-off
September 29, 2006 First Data Corporation announced that it has completed the distribution of a tax-free special dividend to its shareholders consisting of approximately 765 million shares of common stock of The Western Union Company. First Data is distributing one share of common stock of Western Union for each share of First Data common stock to First Data shareholders as of September 22, 2006.As a result of that distribution, First Data will no longer own shares of Western Union, and Western Union will be an independent company. Western Union common stock has been authorized for listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and will trade under the symbol 'WU.'

Yea Citi looks very good to me too. Considering in investing by dollar cost averaging in it. Catching the market at the bottom is too skilled for me

When the US$ tanks in the medium term, see if the resulting loss is "attractive" to you at that time.
